About

La Botica is a socially innovative company that supports artisans, their families, and their communities in Oaxaca by:

  • helping to preserve artisanal, culinary and traditional healing practices.
  • sharing the exceptional wisdom, history, talents and products from Oaxaca, and other parts of Mexico, with the rest of the world.

Although La Botica is a brand new company, we are dedicated to donating a portion of our profits to help support communities in Oaxaca. Our fist partnership will be to help a midwifery school that trains indigenous women from remote villages, which has a significant impact on lowering infant and maternal mortality rates in these areas where there are very few obstetricians.

La Botica was founded in 2015 by Dinora Garcia Guillen, and her husband Rufus Glassco. They met in Oaxaca in 1994, and live in Toronto, Canada with their 2 sons.
During the pandemic they opened Swan’s Nest Holistic Wellness and Nature Centre, in King Township, just north of Toronto. They also started Oak Ridges Organics to market medicinal products that they grow and sustainably wildcraft, and frame drums that Rufus brings to life in his drum making workshops.
